Free School Given Go-Ahead to Open
Plans for the first free school specially dedicated to meeting the needs of autistic pupils, were welcomed by parents.
The new school is set to open in September 2014, on the site of the former Church Lawton Primary, near Alsager.
The school will be funded entirely by the Government and under the jurisdiction of the National Autistic Society (NAS).
The new facility will be extremely helpful for youngsters, who need extra support and cannot manage in mainstream classrooms. It will also fill the existing gaps in the region.
60 pupils, aged four to 19, will be taken care of like the cleaners in Lambeth do. They will mostly come from south Cheshire. However, some young people in North Staffordshire could also have access to the available places.
